THE METHOD STUDIO (established in 1996) is a private drama school dedicated to the teaching of the "Method", a system of acting first devised and perfected by Constantin S. Stanislavski, the original Director of the Moscow Arts Theatre. His "Method" is by no means a rigid doctrine of "rules", but rather a practical and flexible system for the training of the actor; the building of a character and the analysis of the overall action of the play. He dedicated his life to a search for theatrical truth, reality and serious artistry.
In America, this search was continued by such U.S. teachers as Sanford Meisner, Lee Strasberg, Stella Adler, Robert Lewis and Uta Hagen. They, in their turn, had originally studied with actors and students of Stanislavski himself, such as Richard Boleslavski, Michael Chekhov, Maria Ouspenskaya and Tamara Daykarhanova.
The Studio offers excellent teaching at reasonable prices, with a wide range of classes, taught by working professionals; operating on a continual enrolment basis. It is located in Central London close to tube and bus links, and within easy walking distance of West End theatres and cinemas.
